A WORKING ESTATE IN A
CHANGING COUNTRYSIDE
Badminton Estate operates within a wider district
and regional context. Its land, buildings and activities
form part of the character and economy of South
Gloucestershire, the West of England, and wider region.
This Prospectus has set out a clear direction and the
purpose behind which change will occur. It provides
a reference point for discussion rather than a fixed
programme of works.
For the Estate, rural regeneration means purposeful
investment: bringing buildings back into use, enabling
modest housing where appropriate, supporting rural
enterprise and reinvesting in landscape and heritage.
More detailed plans on the economy, heritage,
landscape and development will follow over time.
Together with the framework set out here, they will
guide engagement, delivery and decision-making in
the years ahead.
Over the next fifteen years, the Estate intends to engage
constructively with those who shape this place: local
communities, parish councils, South Gloucestershire
Council, the National Landscape, and regional and
commercial partners.
That direction is expected to have measurable impact.
By 2040, the Estate aims to more than double its
employment and quadruple its economic contribution
(GVA) by 2040. While doing so the Estate will also
improve its carbon sequestration and biodiversity metrics
against its 2025 baseline, through evolving its farming
and forestry enterprises.
Environmental delivery will continue to be reported
transparently over time, building on active work already
under way. Heritage management responsibilities will
continue to be prioritised and delivered. Proposals for
new homes and employment spaces will remain aligned
with demand, the Local Plan and the wider policy
framework.
Sustainable change requires partnership as well as
ownership.
CONTINUITY IS ONLY POSSIBLE THROUGH CHANGE. CHANGE DONE PURPOSEFULLY
AND RESPONSIBLY WILL BE A CATALYST FOR LASTING RURAL REGENERATION.
