WHY ACTIVE STEWARDSHIP
IS NEEDED
&
Funding reinvestment and long-term
maintenance
Maintaining designated assets
and infrastructure
&
Supporting homes, employment and
local services
Operating within defined policy and
landscape limits
Rural estates are operating in a more demanding
environment than they were a generation ago. National
policy now expects more from land use: stronger
environmental outcomes, support for homes and jobs,
and a more active contribution to society.
Badminton must respond within that context, while also
meeting local planning, infrastructure and heritage land
management responsibilities.
At the same time, wider economic and technological
change is reshaping how and where people work. In
that context, rural skills, practical trades and experienceled enterprise may become more, not less, important
over time in a new AI era. The Estate sees this as a longterm opportunity to re-tool and re-skill the workforce in
trades and crafts that will be resilient to technological
displacement.
