IN RURAL COMMUNITIES
Rural regeneration is only possible when ensuring that
people, skills, services and practical trades remain
embedded in the area. It is strengthened when younger
households can remain, when schools and services
continue, and when work stays local.
The Estate already contributes to continuity through the
affordable homes it provides. Around 70 homes are let
at low or no rent, at levels averaging around 70% below
market rents. This helps individuals and families who might
otherwise struggle with affordability to remain in the area,
supporting mixed communities and helping local services
to endure.

This is not about preserving a community in aspic. It is
about sustaining lived and worked in places: where estate
workers, tenants, tradespeople, volunteers and local
