ACCOUNTABILITY
working within clear limits
Badminton Estate is managed through an established
governance structure via the Somerset Trust overseeing
land management, property, finance and long-term
planning.
Much of the Estate lies within the Cotswolds National
Landscape. Our heritage and landscape management
plans therefore place particular emphasis on landscape
character, tranquillity, ecological networks and the
historic environment.
Decisions are taken by those responsible for the Estate
and will be tested against the principles set out in this
Prospectus.
The Estate also operates within the framework of South
Gloucestershire’s Local Plan and national planning
policy, including biodiversity net gain and climate
resilience requirements. Change must therefore be
selective and carefully judged, supporting continuity
while respecting clear policy and heritage landscape
and environmental requirements.
The Estate’s Management Plan operates over a fifteenyear horizon and is reviewed and evolved periodically,
as this Prospectus will be. This helps ensure that decisions
remain consistent with environmental obligations,
financial resilience and the needs of surrounding
communities.
Under each pillar we will set out a series of detailed plans as illustrated below.

clear limits and a realistic understanding of place.
